Trek to Chanderi Fort (चंदेरीचे वाहते पाणि आणि आम्ही)
Trek to Chanderi Fort...
Saturday 9.35pm: I called up Sachin, "यार खूप बोर झालोय; चल जरा पाय मोकळे करून येऊ!". Sachin as always, "चल! बोल कुठे जायचं!!"
Sunday 5.00am: I started my bike and picked up Sachin from his Society. As decides we both has thought of few spots at night. After discussion of around 10, we decided for 'चंदेरी'. Actually speaking, none of us been to Chanderi before, even if it is close to Mumbai. May be 'A nearest hence Neglected one'. Bike wheels started rolling from Dombivli along with discussion on schedule and route we need to follow. 'श्रावणसरी' was our third partner who started from Dombivali with us.
By taking a left from 'Kasgaon' on pipeline road, we reached at base village at around 7.00am i.e. Chinchvali and started taking help of most dependable source of trek information... काका, मामा, आजी.
As instructed by one of a kind Man, we started our trek at around 7.30am. श्रावणसरी was still with us. It was a mild walk in the beginning with gradual ascend/descent followed by huge plateau of green grass. It took around 30 minutes to us to reach on this plateau from where we can see the starting point of actual mountain range. Route till this point was surrounded by lush greeneries and small bushes. From here we can see the starting point of actual hiking mountain range but due to this drizzling rain and cloudy fog, we weren't able to locate the top of 'Chanderi and Mhaismal'.
We started hearing music of flowing water on huge rocks from very beginning of this jungle route. After trekking down for around 15/20 min, we reached on one water stream which was flowing from top of that mountain and created lot many small waterfalls. We decided to search for a route first and enjoy this stream on our descent. We started searching for route marks. One should be very sharp and alert to locate the 'arrow on rock and Cairn marking'. Trust me, if anyone missed this marking will keep roaming in this dark forest. We also spends lot of our time to take look at route by marks.
We both got excited while following these marks as this route is almost parallel to that water stream and created small falls on almost every 5 minutes. On completion of tough ascending route for almost 1 hour, we reached at point on which route from Panvel is meeting. We reached at caves within 15 minutes from this point.
We tried to grab the beauty of 'सह्याद्रि mountain ranges' and their valleys from almost every cliff but nature has other plans. As rain is still our third partner and cloudy fog on top we were not able to capture those beauty in our eyes as well as camera. On that movement, we decided to come here again in post monsoon season.
We reached at caves at around 9.30am; still not happy as not able to enjoy view from top due to surrounding fog. We spend some time here, had a Bananas and snacks as our breakfast. Tiffin was as not provided from home due to notice as short as yesterday night.
We started descending at around 10.30am and cover the route by 12 o' clock. As decided earlier, we have not spared any waterfall on route. Enjoyed till shivering. On the way, one of the crab tested Sachin's blood as we tried to manhandled him.
We reached home at around 2.00pm and our family got amazed seeing us on door this early on trekking day.
One who love soaking in natural water and want to experience best trek route; Should plan for Chanderi in this season. Freshers, please take a help of local guide and required precautions to avoid unwanted risk.
Next time we will visit this place just to capture beauty of surrounding Shayadry in our 1 million mega pixel eyes....
