Trek to Aundha Fort (सफर उघड्या औंधची)

Trek to Aundha Fort

This is the trek which we have postponed twice in last one month due to heavy rainfall in that region. Finally, today was the day for it....

Fort: Aundha
Height: 4400 Feet
Mountain Range: Kalsubai
District: Nashik

If anyone want to experience result of heavy deforestation, should visit to this region. Excessive deforestation has deserted this area. Throughout the trek we were searching for single tree under which we can take rest for a moment but No luck. This region is full lush green grass and numbers of giants Windmills.

We started from Dombivli at around 5.00am on bike. After 4 hours of bike ride  we reached 'Ninavi Village' near 'Egatpuri' at 9.00am. We take a left from 'Kadwa colony', to rech 'Ninavi  Village' is around 3 to 4 km away. On the way we have 1st time experienced bike ride on a Dam i.e. ' Kadwa Dam'. By public transport, one need to get down at Kadwa colony at have a walk of 4km to reach base village Ninavi.

We started ascending at around 9.00am and it took around 45 min to reach 1st plateau. From here the fort Aundha was looking like dice kept on sheet of green plateau. As we can see our destination nearby, we underestimated the trek path.

It took around 3 hrs to reach on 1st toughest rock patch. We have crossed difficult the steps built in rock and reached on a spot where villagers have fixed a rope. This spot stiff and due to last week rains became slippery. We have tried taking a few steps but found dangerous to attempt without a second rope which we forgot to carrie. So we followed the most important rule of trekking, 'Respect the Nature' and decided get back. We came bak to base village in 2 hours time and started the return journey to Dombivali. Rached home at 6.00pm

Ha, not to forgot... we able to complete Sachin's one of the wish to take a picture with highest point of windmill which was just behind us when we was on top.
